A licensed landscape architect in Edgemont and the founder of Ink. Working in the homes and gardens of Westchester.
Sandra began her career in fragrance — first at Givaudan, the Swiss fragrance and flavor company, working on the creation and technical side of perfumery: how a molecule behaves, how an accord builds, how a single ingredient changes a composition and experience.
She then joined Beauté Prestige International, the perfumery house behind Jean Paul Gaultier and Issey Miyake, where the work shifted from chemistry to brand expression — how a luxury house translates a scent into an identity.
In 2010, she received a Certificate in Perfumery from the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. The same year, she had the opportunity to visit the jasmine fields outside Grasse where the flowers are grown for Chanel.
Sandra received her Master of Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech.
Her first studio role was at Parker Rodriguez in 2012. From there she joined Nelson Byrd Woltz in Charlottesville — one of the most distinguished landscape architecture practices in America — where over five years she contributed to and led some of the firm's most significant projects.
At NBW, she was Lead Designer on the Garden of Light at the Aga Khan Centre in Kings Cross, London. She served on the design team for the Aga Khan Garden in Edmonton, the largest Islamic garden in the Americas. She worked on the Eastern Glades restoration at Memorial Park in Houston.
In 2019, she joined Margie Ruddick Landscape as a consultant and project manager, contributing to the Fordham Landing master plan in the Bronx among other public-scale work.
Licensed in New York (#002763) and Virginia (#0406001863). Sandra serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ecological Landscape Alliance and is a Board Emerita of the Landscape Architecture Foundation. She was a member of the Hastings-on-Hudson Waterfront Rezoning Committee and an instructor in Native Plants at the New York Botanical Garden. She is the founder of Ink Landscape Architects, PLLC.
Her work has been visited by hundreds of thousands of people.
Ink was founded in 2020. The choice to start a smaller, more focused practice came from a simple observation: most homeowners in Westchester didn't need a year-long full-service engagement. They needed someone who could see the whole.
The Drop is the answer. It begins with a ninety-minute consultation on the property — a walk of the land with a licensed landscape architect. From that visit, three artefacts follow: a hand-drawn sketch of what the space could become, a curated plant palette for the property's light, soil, and conditions, and a private webpage holding the sketch, the palette, and photographs.
The visit, the sketch, the palette, and the page. Together, they are The Drop.
The studio is in Edgemont. The work is in Bronxville, Scarsdale, Larchmont, Rye, Hartsdale, and the surrounding villages.
